Louisiana’s state nickname is the “Pelican State” due to the number of brown pelicans that live on the coastline. The brown pelican is also the state’s official bird.

Louisiana offers generally warm year round temperatures if a little humid in the summer months. The coastal region is subject to Hurricane activity generally from August to October, though they are a generally rare occurrence.
Best time to visit
As you venture to the mountain area, temperatures are likely to drop notably though in summer it should still be very pleasant. However mountain weather is unpredictable and layered clothing is the best and most versatile attire to wear.
