This is a customer review from the Webb party who went on a Western USA fly drive at the end of August 2015.

Hi Andy, just returned from USA which was a great time.

Observations on some hotels etc:

Firesky Resort was probably our best stay ~ lovely friendly staff, lovely pool, very relaxing (and I needed it)
The Ranch at Furnace Creek was great ~ could have stayed there longer ~ simple room, lovely view and a natural spring fed pool we were swimming in at 9pm!
River Terrace Inn ~ we chose to pay for an upgrade to have a balcony overlooking the river ~ lovely hotel except for the canned ‘Bass & Drum’ music they pump through the whole hotel ~ you couldn’t get away from it as we overlooked the river we overlooked the patio below ~ so the music belted out until 11pm.
Casa Munras ~ Monterey: lovely town and seaside ~ could have spent days there
Wyndham Santa Monica ~ as you know last year I had some concerns over this one but as you said there is no better location in SMO ~ it was good last year ~ this year they have modernised the bar and reception area and it is really nice ~ very friendly and helpful staff.

As we didn’t plan to another big trip after last year ~ no idea what we will do next year – but it may be Canada :¬
