Introduction
Like our CNA Western itinerary for the USA we are naturally asked just exactly how we would visit the Canadian Rockies in 2 weeks if it were for ourselves. We are also asked to watch the budget quite closely as Canada holidays are generally a little more expensive compared to USA holidays.

So this itinerary is one we have driven ourselves, it’s one that utilizes particularly well-priced accommodation that offer excellent locations and a comfortable place to stay without being particularly opulent or spectacular, our choice of accommodation is certainly a careful compromise that offer you the best sights and affordable prices. So for the next 15 days enjoy touring around the Canadian Rockies. Get a taste of everything from the city of Vancouver, home of the 2010 Winter Olympics to the scenic National Parks of Jasper and Banff in Alberta.

Vancouver – Clearwater - 295 miles

Today drive towards Blue River, “Jewel of the Yellowhead” situated at the northern edge of the North Thompson Valley, on the outskirts of Wells Gray Provincial Park. The park encompasses 522,000 hectares, known worldwide for its incredible mountain scenery and hiking trails. Blue River has grown to become a thriving tourism based community and is located in one of the most pristine natural environments in the world.

Today continue north along the Thompson River and travel through the Yellowhead Pass where you will be able to view Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Rockies. Then on into the town of Jasper in Jasper National Park. The park is famous for its landscapes and wildlife and Jasper’s friendly mountain hospitality, peaceful low key atmosphere, and the promise of adventure will make your visit unforgettable.

Spend the day exploring Jasper where there is no shortage of sights and attractions such as Maligne Canyon and Lake and Pyramid and Patricia Lakes-all of which are magnificent. Take a cruise around Maligne Lake, this exquisite lake is the second largest glacier-fed lake in world, the cruise will take you past glacier-studded mountain peaks to world famous Spirit Island.

Today you may wish to travel the Jasper Tramway where enclosed gondolas whisk you to the top of Whistler Mountain for a spectacular view. Interpretive exhibits explain the high alpine environment and a hiking trail leads you to the summit of the mountain. Another way to relax is a visit to the Miette Hot Springs; these natural springs are the hottest in the Canadian Rockies. In the evening why not stop at the historic Jasper Park Lodge for a drink or dinner.

Make your way along the Icefields Parkway to Lake Louise the “Jewel of the Rockies” where the Victoria Glacier reflects on the water. Not to be missed along the way are the fascinating Columbia Icefields where we suggest a snocoach journey on to Athabasca Glacier. Also view Mt. Edith Cavell, Athabasca & Sunwapta Falls.

Lake Louise – Banff - 35 miles

Today on to Banff located at the centre of Banff National Park, Canada’s oldest National Park. There is so much to see in Banff where does one begin? May we suggest a visit to the Whyte Museum of the Canadian Rockies or a gondola ride to the top of Sulpher Mountain for a spectacular view over Banff & the Bow River Valley? While in Banff an evening stroll along the boutiques & shops of Banff Avenue is a great way to end your day.

Today a visit to the Cave and Basin National Historic Site is where you will discover the origins of Banff National Park. Discovered in 1883 the site consists of a naturally occurring warm mineral springs found inside the cave and an emerald-colored basin just outside. In the afternoon perhaps visit the Hoodoos – mushroom shaped pillars of glacial silt and clay or the Banff Upper Hot Springs for a relaxing dip in the natural pool.

Today we suggest a visit to Canmore and Kananaskis. Spectacular scenery, fresh air, and an abundance of activities to choose from make Canmore a picture-perfect resort town. The town was the site of the biathlon and cross-country ski events of the 1988 Winter Olympics. Lots of activities to choose from including hiking, horseback riding, kayaking, mountain biking or fishing.

Banff – Calgary – 79 miles

Today drive towards Calgary, although a thriving ranching industry and the discovery of oil helped put Calgary on the map, it was the 1988 Winter Olympic Games that turned all eyes on the former cow town. Spend time exploring Calgary, visiting Canada Olympic Park which is still used for year-round sports activities and well worth a visit. Perhaps visit the Calgary Tower which rises 191 metres above the city offering a panorama of the city and nearby Rocky Mountains. Fort Calgary, location of the original Mounted Police post & the Glenbow Museum & Art Gallery are also worthwhile visiting.

This morning you will travel onwards via the Rogers Pass and Glacier National Park to the town of Salmon Arm. Stop in Revelstoke situated in Mount Revelstoke National Park along the way and you may wish to take a tour of the ghost town at Three Valley Gap. Located halfway between Calgary and Vancouver lies Salmon Arm the largest community on Shuswap Lake

Access is possible to major towns but some lakes are inaccessible and most lakes are frozen during winter and spring. This itinerary has been designed to ffer the most econmical way to visit the Canadian Rockies. Our selection of hotesl are clean and basic offering convenient safe loications. If you budget for the holidays allows we would be happy to discuss some optional upgrades. At the very top end of the scale you would be looking at the hotels listed below for something extra special however there are many other mid-range options we can talk to you about if this is what you are looking for.

• This itinerary is based on using the most convenient flights currently on offer with British Airways. With daily non-stop flights from Vancouver you can select the most convenient travel date for you subject to availability. If you would prefer to fly with an alternative carrier we would be happy to prepare an individual quote for you.
• Where available we will be delighted to pre-assign your seats numbers and take care of any special meal requests according to your preference at the time of booking.
• We have exceptional deals on upgrades with British Airways to World Traveller Plus, Club World and FIRST.

Note - Car Rental in Canada

• Unlike America all rentals in Canada are subject to an excess on claims of CAD$500.00. This can be eliminated at the time of collection by paying CAD$6.95 per day.
• You are required to have a full British driving license and should take both parts of your license with you. If you have driving offences this may prevent you from renting with Hertz, please check with a member of our staff before making your booking.
• We have reduced rates on a variety of car classes so please ask for details if you would like to consider upgrading from the 'Compact' category included in your package.
• To rent a vehicle with Hertz you must be at least 25 years old. Drivers between the ages of 21-25 can rent a car in Canada but please call us so we can quote this itinerary with an alternative rental company.

Travel Insurance
Whilst it is not compulsory to take our travel insurance, it’s imperative that you do not travel without comprehensive travel insurance. Our adult premium is £49 per person for 2 weeks, however we do have rates for family policies and annual travel insurance, please call for details. In all cases taking our travel insurance will require acceptance of the medical health declaration and all pre-existing conditions should be declared to the insurance company.

A member of our team will be happy to answer any questions you have before processing your booking and the initial non-refundable deposit payment of £150.00 per person. We will endeavour to secure your flights and take care of any special meal requests during this call. The remaining components of your holiday will be put in place and a written 'Confirmation/Invoice' detailing everything we have confirmed on your behalf will be sent by regular mail along with a receipt for the deposit to your nominated contact address. We try to complete this whole process within 7- 10 working days of accepting your order and deposit, however meeting this target is very much dependant on the speed of response from our hotel and tour partners in North America.

Please note – By agreeing to pay a deposit you are instructing us to commence with the booking of your holiday arrangements and as such you enter into an agreement with Complete North America Limited. This agreement is governed by our standard booking conditions a copy of which is available to you at anytime and included with your written holiday confirmation.
